Thanks for the props guys, appreciate it!
RarlyL8 Motorsports is dedicated solely to the Porsche 930, with exhaust systems being the focus.
If you want a good sound, not just a loud sound, our tuned headers are second to none. The tone is subdued at idle, pleasant tuned tone when cruising, and absolutely screams on the pipe! More Ferrari, less motorboat. Our mufflers offer 3 sound levels, Outlaw (straight pipe), Hooligan (flame tube), and Street (muffled flame tube). Combine with 4 tailpipe configurations to get the look and sound you want. All 3"ID straight through design for max performance. 321 stainless is light weight and tolerates a lot of heat for a long period of time. Our headers and mufflers have been on track cars for years with zero failures.

Here is a sound clip Magnus made some time ago of a Hooligan muffler on his 3.0L 930. Captures the sound pretty accurately.

Deez, you can get the black heater ducting from Aircraft Spruce . . . the black is CAT and/or CEET (both styles are black), and the orange is SCAT - orange is higher temperature rated. BUTT, maybe Brian's is different?

Installation is the stick point. I probably installed from the turbo & waste gate outs on 5 or six 930s over the years. Depends on the condition of the bolts/studs and if you break any. Probably the least time was 3 hours. Probably a good muffler shop with the right stuff, less. Replacing the complete system well that has the same variables like frozen bolts or studs breaking, a lot longer.

Aircraft Spruce & Specialty carry SCAT and SCART tubing. I recommend the aluminum tubing for use with headers as it can touch the pipes without harm and conducts heat better as it warms up with the system.

We have replaced many short tube header systems with our tuned system. We see a 35whp gain on a stock Euro 3.3L engine with short tube headers; our tuned headers show a 50whp gain. Another plus is the properly designed waste gate circuit. The short tube systems use a cheap elephant nose that juts out under the turbo flange at a horrible 90° angle. We take a signal off of each bank at a more shallow angle and merge them for use with a single waste gate. We also have options for dual waste gates. All headers are split plenum so you can use a split volute turbo with dual waste gates for a true divided system.

The US 76-79 exhaust system especially with the thermo reactors are indeed crappola. The 70s Euro and the US exhaust from 86 onward, not so bad. Just had GHL headers & a Borla passenger out system removed and installed NOS Factory heat exchangers, cross over and J pipe ( I had been hoarding it for about 15 years) with a RarlyL8 passenger out on my 89 930 that previously been on the engine dyno @ 472HP. ( turbo upped to a K28 from a Brumos 934 along with lots of everything else ). Felt the same now as before but a new set of those headers RarlyL8 makes would be even better so those might be next.

Here is a video I took a couple years ago after I installed RarlyL8 headers (with heater boxes) and hooligan single outlet muffler. I also have a K27HFS, and a TiAl with 1.0 bar spring TK IC and Leask WUR.

I used a gopro with a remote microphone taped to the bumper right over the exhaust to get the most realistic sound I could without all the wind noise.

Turn up the volume! If you have a desktop with a subwoofer sound system, use that to get a good idea of the real sound.

^^^Nice video: Your exhaust off throttle sounds just like my Zork (cis) but under load those Rarlyl8 tuned headers sound really sweet, lot nicer than my old Powerhaus headers.

Brian of Rarlyl8 makes IMO one of the best tuned systems available for the 930

I've swapped out B&B headers & muffler for Brian's RarlyL8 headers and hooligan muffler = Amazing difference in sound, performance and quality.

Here is my sample at idle.

Nice Jeff! That's by far the closest recording to how my '86 with Brian's headers and street muffler sounds, especially at full tilt. I would say the only difference with the street muffler is it takes a slight edge off the "raspy" sound at idle and part throttle. Tradeoff is the turbo whistle is also not as distinctive at idle.

I used this guy (he supplies orange ducting and if you give his the lengths you need, he puts ends on it which are essential for clamping):

Custom Ducts (800)863-2620

Did Brian make that zork? I have the hooligan dual out but it would be cool to be able to swap to GT3 style zork.....

16Volt - That is Brian's (RarlyL8) centre exit hooligan pipe with GT3 style tail pipe. I believe a zork is a short curved pipe directly off the turbo. where as the Hooligan is a muffler body with no packing, bolted to the turbo, then the exit pipe comes off the end of the hooligan pipe, turns 180 degrees then has a short 90 degree turn section. I actually have a dual tip that I may add onto the single pipe and see if it changes the exhaust note at all.

For fun here is an outlaw pipe, in place of the hooligan pipe. The "outlaw" is a straight pipe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OYIdpdTjkQ
Its a little louder than the hooligan pipe. For fun, I tried a home made zork pipe before I got Brians outlaw & Hooligan pipe. I found the zork to be quite obnoxious and since I respect most of my neighbours I went with the quieter hooligan option.
