turbokraft full bay intercooler pictures-installation
I am looking into a full bay intercooler for my '79 930 and wanted to see some installation pictures of the Turbokraft full bay unit.
In particular I am looking for photos other than what's on their website. I am mostly interested in seeing how the rear connection is made to the intercooler and the throttle body on the pancake manifold. Photos of the actual piping assembly and how it’s connected, mounting points, location of the blow off valve, ie. I have concerns with packaging it in my engine compartment and without photos of this piece it’s impossible to make any judgement if it works for me. I called Chris and he can’t supply me any pictures so that’s why I am asking here. Any help is appreciated. PM me if it’s easier to talk off line. I can give you my email address. Thanks Fred

Mine is on a 3.2 manifold, but I can show you pics of that if you want.

Glad you found your way into the correct forum
I have a 1994 3.6 single turbo with a pancake manifold and a large intercooler but it is not a turbokraft IC and certainly not as pretty as one of Chris' pieces. Use a rubber boot between the intake and IC. ![]() ![]()

Hi Van,
Nice Garrettson IC! That uses an 8" length (fore-aft) core, so it can exit nearly vertically into a 930 manifold. TurboKraft intercoolers are usually 12" so we use a 3" diameter tube out of the intercooler into the throttle body. It's a "U" shaped tube on the 3.2 manifold setups, and a "S" for the flat manifold. Using an outlet tube lets us mount all accessories in it -- air temp sensor, idle motor port, blow off valve, etc. Sorting through 1,000+ photos from a recent project, sure to have a good on in the back of the IC outlet pipe. Will post it here. Fred -- we can put the BOV most anywhere along that outlet tube, or, leave it off for you to add on (TIG weld the flange locally).

Chris I did not know it was a Garretson IC. I know this motor well, as it came out of a friends car, but I took it in on trade and am most likely going to sell it
Thanks for the info

TK full-width EFI intercooler's cold-side charge pipe, intercooler to throttle body, 930 with flat manifold.
The standard BOV we use is a black Raceport from Turbosmart, while the one shown is a HKS SSQV (customer request). BOV + installation (welding) is $300.

Lol!
![]() Nah, it ain't about winning anything, I got all my ideas and wish-list bits only from reading threads on Pelican. But having said that, a fair bit of effort went into shipping A/C pipework around the country to make up the custom hoses, welding bosses into place, etc. The UK doesn't seem to have as many A/C specialist or parts suppliers as you guys do (duh...our climate may be the reason). It all looks remarkably unremarkable now when I look back, but glad I did it (having spent £1200 on a new CCU only a month or 2 before embarking on this project...I damn well want to use the thing!!)
