Exhaust manifold cherry Red at idle

A friend of mine 930 exhaust manifold glows Cherry Red at idle after just 5 minutes of operation. Aftermarket b&b stainless exhaust. Also muffler shows a really high temperature but not cherry red.
Timing verified, different cams checked, different mufflers, different static timing, new injectors. No misfire at all at any moment.
Different gasoline brands.
3.3 liter engine.
W3dpo Bosch spark plugs
CIS injection.
Is that normal??
Maybe he is looking for a problem where it is not.
Advice, comments more than welcome
Thanks.

Extremely lean mixture can cause this or way out of time.

If your friend values his engine ... inspect again.

Check the temperature of each cylinder header primary tube. One lean cylinder can cause these symptoms while the average AFR reading remains in spec. If once cylinder is an outlier verify fuel flow at the injector for all 6 cylinders. This is assuming that ignition and cam timing has been verified and there is no occlusion in the exhaust system.

How did he check the timing? I would guess its still too retarded and remember that stock timing is way too retarded for good engine operation but was chosen for emissions. I can run my engine close to stoich and it does not get cherry red ( good amount of timing advance) and leaner than stoich starts to get cooler beleive it or not. Stoich burns about the hottest and makes least emissions.

29 beforehand in 4000 tr / mn, temperature of oil in 90 , for one 930 European. Too much beforehand made also too much warm the exhaust. ;-)

No spark can cause this. Fuel ignited when it hits cat or exhaust
