West Coast trip - Shop visits
I'll be in San Diego next week for a little R&R. Thinking about taking a road trip out to visit the almighty Turbokraft and the guys.

I don't know how far you are willing to make your road trips but you might consider Canepa in Santa Cruz...actually Scotts valley believe. Sadly I live about 15 miles away and have never been there.

not a Porsche shop but a very cool experience.
Last september I visited Chip Foose Shop in Huntington beach Cal. His shop forman gave us a tour and went over in detail a mustang they were building for sema along with a dozen other custom rides that they were working on. at the end chip made a appearance endgame a few autographs the free tour is at 11:45 I suggest call ahead or look at his site not a Porsche shop but a very cool experience.

Canepa's shop is a used car showroom, mini museum upstairs, and working restoration/service shop. But the average vehicle they service /sell is a Gullwing, or a 959, or an ex-Bruce McLaren Can Am car. Well worth the visit, is you're in the Monterey area.

If you’re headed north there’s a Porsche exhibit going on at the Petersen Museum in LA, and/or hit the Porsche Experience center in Carson and have lunch.

Carlsbad to Scotts Valley is a good 6 or 7 hour drive, at least.
IRCalvin's suggestions are both in LA, so you could hit them both in one daytrip from Carlsbad.

Hey Flash -- we make that drive nearly every summer, and Carlsbad to Phoenix is a solid 6 hour drive, longer if you have family with you...

There's plenty of areas you can cruise at 80-85 during the day, but they're balanced out by places like El Centro and Yuma that live on speeding tickets.

Hey. Go north about 1 hour or less to Fallbrook Ca. Go to California Porsche Restoration and also Vintage Parts and Supertec.
