Andail intercooler

What is the value of an andial intercooler for a 3.0 turbo?

If you post a picture you'll probably get responses.
Bob Garretson made them for Andial years ago and the half bay unit is pretty good while keeping the stock AC condenser in the tail.
They also made a full bay intercooler that you don't see often.
Some of the half bay intercoolers have cast aluminum end tanks and some have hand made end tanks. The hand made end tanks are thinner aluminum and weigh less.

In my experience the prices have gone down. A few years back they were around $1,000 on ebay. I had my 1/2 bay listed a few months back on ebay for $500 starting with no takers. I also have the aluminum connector pieces.
The problem is they don't fit under a stock '75-'77 tail, and require a '78 and later tail, which to me makes it a deal killer.

I think Harold is spot on. Not many guys modifying the 3.0 cars these days, $500 seems to be the going rate. The 3.3l versions still seem to be in the $800-$1200 range.

They are great inter coolers, I did not see any gains from upgrading to a larger cooler from my andail. Mine is also for sale and would suggest it be modded to fit the 3.3? I don't see anyone with a turbo 3.0 wanting any longer.

I think you would need to cut and re-angle the neck to fit the the 3.3 intake/throttle body angle. Silly me thought Andial/Garretson would have made it to fit under the 75-77 tail.
If it fit under the stock tail the demand would go way up. I had quite a few interested buyers until they realized it wouldn’t fit.
I may try and fit it on my 2.1 waterboxer when the turbo kit comes out.

I have one also... for a 3.0 it sits on my shelf in the garage. Put it up for sale awhile ago for a very cheap price and no takers. maybe in 10yrs or so it will be worth something lol,

I am surprised you did not gain anything with a larger intercooler. With my motor it was night and day between the half bay and full bay intercooler. Maybe the size of my motor and the work I have done to it.

I wonder if these would work in the inner fenders like the RUF’s.

Thanks I liked it too. Iíd needed the rear n/a deck cut and welded the support for strength. I ended up with a much larger Intercooler and changed the tail completely but I though it was kinda hot rod cool.

Itís not really loud. Itís a manga flow there in three out offset and free flowing I chose it cause itís what Turbokraft uses.
It sounds nice. Iím building another smaller can muffler for more sound and Iíll switch them out.

I put one of these in my 930. Stupidly didnít realize that I was buying one for an early car. The I let my sunk cost bias get the best of me.

Unless you know how to weld aluminum I donít think itís worth the effort to mod them to fit 3.3L cars. After paying TurboKraft to mod it and shipping it back and forth 2x it was just as expensive as if I had just bought one that fit in the first place, and itís dtill pretty tight.
