Rear quarter

Just wondering if the number I have on the left side rear quarter window has any significance ?

It feels and appears to be etched on the glass.

Am I alone here with this number placement ?

Or do others also have a number on the rear quarter window ?

Hi Alan,

No correlation with any engine or chassis numbers.

It is a real mystery and I should have mentioned this number is on both the drivers and passengers side rear quarter windows.

I would love to know the origin and meaning of this 9388.

LOL. You guys crack me up. But why would Rawknees want his dress size etched on someone elses' window? That may be the bigger question.
Butt - my best guess would be it is a previous rego plate number - etched on by a PO for security reasons. I have heard of that being done.

That's my underwear size (if I wore any, that is! ), as measured from the front only!

Why Steve wanted to etch that on his car's windows is troubling, indeed!

I've caught glimpses of Kevin creeping around my house with a camera in hand - maybe he has some pics he can send you, Alan (who knows what you plan to do with them, however! )!

Not mine - elephant banana hammocks only, when undergarments are absolutely required (not sure when that would be, however!).

BUTT, your car probably needs something that size in order to contain its swangin' coconutz!

Hopefully your original Q has been answered???
That's about as much sense as you can expect from this lot.

In all serious mode..... it looks like some sort of inspection or parking decal. By chance have you taken a fresh razor blade to a small piece to see if it is removable? Typically etched glass doesn't fade at all even over the years. Also when wanting to have a asolutley original everything car it's the factory labels thats inside between the layers of the safety glass that matters.

You could try posting the query on the 911 Tech forum.
Loads more sensible people there. You are stuck with us on this forum - totally random results. :-)
Regards

Are you able to contact the original owner(s)? Possibly inquire to them personally?

Yeah, some of us are considered yahoo's and butchers while others are more of a OEM type. As long as we play nice.

Some sort of a anti-theft / security measure most likely, in Europe it was popular to etch glass with number plate, part of number plate or some other id. Think it was more of 80s/early 90s thing. Mostly have seen the id's on rear quarter glass.

LOL this thread
