Camshaft wear assessment
Have looked at the cams and housing in some detail and would appreciate any input.
Measurements show the cam journals worn to the min dimension, and the housings worn to the max dimension. The clearances measure 0.067mm to o.083mm, at or a bit over the "max" but within the wear limit. The housing bores show some marks ( see photo) as do the journals. (the crosswise marks are from teh tip of my bore gauge) most of the scratches don't catch a fingernail. The cam lobes show some marks but I am not sure if this is normal. Question is - are these parts reusable? I will likely pull it apart again in another 40-50,000 km. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Based on this picture, there is definite pitting at the top, I would send cams and the rocker to Elgin Cams to get reground. He can even change the grind to a Sport or SC depending on core.
I think it was $600 for everything to redo my cams and rockers

Thanks for the info.
ONe question, though, is whether the wear on the journals and cam housing is at a resuable point.
