Part Number for 2.7 and 3.0 Steel Head Stud

Hi,

Is this it?

911-101-172-00-M260

also numbered 911-101-172-00

I spoke with William Knight - he recommended the steel 2.7 steel head studs to me.

Many thanks

James

I just went to the dealer today - the studs are black. Are these the correct studs?

Do they draw a magnet?
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I asked the same - no magnet at the Porsche dealership.

I was thinking, perhaps wrong, that they were silver not black?

I know this was not your question, but personally, I prefer the supertec performance studs sold on this site (and the supertec site). They are not cheap but have a lifetime warranty.

Doesn’t matter what color the coating. Are they steel?
Why do you want steel studs on a 77 mag case? That was the problem to start with

Thanks flintstone and Bruce.

Engine is a 79 SC. Steel is used by a well known engine builder in E class race cars - they will be good for my purposes. Thanks.

Ok. Didn't know you were planning to race. Not a lot of time for steel ones to corrode in an engine that is not built for longevity.

Steel studs do not break. It is the Dilivar studs, installed on the exhaust side of the ‘77-‘89 engines, that are prone to corrosion cracking and fracture. On the Magnesiun cases, the steel studs can pull out of the threaded stud holes in the case. That is why those holes are time certed for added strength during a rebuild.
