Engine locked??
Guys got in a panic today. My 911sc block is now stripped.Cases together(not splitting) pistons out.Chains in situ.Thats it.
Today,I decided to remove flywheel which requires re-sufacing.However,I noticed that as I turned the flywheel, the engine locked. It would turn approx 300 degrees then stop.its not the rods catching on the block.I made sure chains were under tension. Wondering if Ive damaged something as Ive stripped it down, or is it just the orientation of the block causing this? Any help gratefully recieved. |
stuck
Stripped down like that it can only be chain as you say rods are free.

If the pistons are out, maybe you just have a rod caught on something. Fairly common.
But don't go trying to force the flywheel around... You should lock it somehow to keep it from turning in the first place when removing it. |
Yep it's the chains on the intermediate shaft like Fred said. Basically the chain has lifted off one of the sprockets and sat back down with a hump in the chain. Have someone tug on the chains while you carefully turn over the engine and that will release the chain hump that is the obstruction.
