1978 911 SC rebuild issues

SmileWavyHey guys and gals

I am rebuilding my '78 SC motor after ten years of racing and I went with a GT3 oil pump on the recommendations of my porsche go fast mechanic.

Had to mill some off the case for clearance for the larger pump...now all is well and the case is finished but my old aluminum aftermarket sump plate does not clear the new GT3 pumps screen! (and yes the screen and pickup piece are off of the plate.)

Has anyone else had this problem? did you machine a spacer? or? Is there another solution?

thanks

larry

There is a sump plate made for that situation.

sump plate

Thanks Gordon

It does look deeper.

Unfortunately, i think the one I have is the one listed just below that one :-)

...i'll have to call in tho and see if they are sure the GT3 pump screen will clear as they don't list that pump?

Or ... get plate edge dimensions and make a aluminum spacer for the older Pelican one i have.
