Fresh out of mutton tallow - what to use instead?

Installing valve guides soon but forgot to order specific lube for the job..... what can I use that I'll have on hand? WD40? Nev-r-seize? Grease? Butter? Olive oil?

Or should I wait for the right stuff?

I have done guides before but cannot honestly remember what I used for lube.

Thanks in advance! Jon

I fried some bacon just before I installed mine.

However, the Carrera manual specifies talc.

Hey Gord, I remember you said that but I thought you were joking!!

Sheesh, I don't have any talc either.

My garage smelled like bacon for a while. Yea, Sun and others have a "special" lubricant. I researched it and the main ingredient was tallow in the professional stuff.
I couldn't see springing for the professional stuff and I like bacon. :D
Later I read in the Carrera repair manual they say use talc. I have never used talc, and it doesn't seem like a lube, but who knows.
I would think KY or similar would work, since it is organic and would dissipate in heat.

How about heating the head up?

I'm going to do that too. Doesn't seem to be necessary (according to the manuals) but to me seems the kinder gentler way to go about it, and no downside other than a bit of time.

Heat heads and freeze guides.
