73E piston cylinder question

I am putting back together a 73E motor and I am having second thoughts of using the P/C's My piston cylinder clearance is pushing .004 to .005. Question: I have a set of NOS porsche 2.4T first oversize pistons. Could I use these if I bore my cylinders. I realize the compression will be .5 point lower, but maybe that will be better than having that large P/C gap? Any thoughts?
thanks,
Mike

You'd have to bore and have your cylinders replated with Nikasil. I doubt it would be cheaper than a new set of P&Cs...

I thought the 2.4 weren't nicasil just steel?? What do you think about the .004 to .005 clearance???
Thanks

the 2.4 t cylinders where cast. the price of those e piston and cylinders are quite scary. t and s 's are cheaper.

If the cylinders are just cast iron, get them bored and honed. I do not know the answer if they are Ni coated. But if they are not go with it.
