Can you use 993 cam housings on a 964?

I know there's something about the bridge...

Generally, what do you need to look out for if using a cam housing from either another 964 or a 993 on a 964?

The 993 cam carrier is oil fed to each of the rockers. The rocker shaft covers are bolted in.
I recall builders years ago backdating the cam carriers with earlier cam carriers to remove the valve float.
I’m going to say 993 are not interchangeable with earlier applications.

Can't help other than earlier 4 journal carriers do work with 964 cams on earlier engines.
I also modified my 964 cams to use the 901 chain sprocket assembly, makes for easier timing adjustment and you don't need the spendy tools. The mod costs less than the cam tools.

Let me re-frame the question.

I have a 964 build that requires cam housings. Other than 964 housings - what other ones could I use (if any) and which ones would be idea or what modifications would they require? 964 housings are slow to come up for sale and if I had some options, that would be great.

Thanks!

You can use SC and Carrera but have to modify, or at least check the oil connection to cam lube

I can't see why the 993 cam housing could't be used. They are a lot better I would say with the non-leaking rocker shafts....
On the RSRs they removed the hydraulic lifters in favour for the mechanical old style rocker (basically an old rocker without the oiling hole) for a higher rev limit.

Bump - I had found a thread that talked about how to modify the 993 unit to work but I lost it.
