when to do valve adjustment post top end rebuild
I had the top end redone to tackle oil leaks (rockers, seals, new valve guides and valves etc
what is the advice with regards to break in prior to valve adjustment/oil change...i ve heard anywhere from 800 miles to 3000 miles? |

It depends whether piston rings were changed. With new rings, you are normally running a break-in type of oil that should be changed after a short interval. If the work was just head work (valve grind, guides, seals) then it's pretty much normal maintenance schedule.

forgot to mention, followed instructions to stay below 4K rpm for first 500 miles and use engine breaking etc to seat the rings...now am permitted to go to 5K rpm.

Change it after 500 then again at 1000.
I would adjust valves then, plus check the head stud torque. Why keep under 5K?
