Zenith 40TIN float setting
Hi all!
I'm working on a 911T -71 which I bought in parts and have never driven. Same with the carbs, I have not had them running. I have cleaned and refurbished them both with new gaskets etc. I successfully set the float levels on one of the carbs finding the right shims. The other carb, not so lucky. The setup is the same but I get readings off the float gauge even without any shims. The float is tightly screwed to the top carb part, it moves freely. The float needles are new and shuts tight when tested (a small screwdriver to push the floats up from the plug hole where the gauge goes). What am I missing here? There is no other adjustments that I can do? Any other routes the fuel (white spirit as they're not on a car) can pass the needle valve? I don't have any other leaks. Please help, I'm going insane figuring this out!! Any input appreciated, Jörgen Forssling Gothenburg SWEDEN |

Make sure the screw of the float gauge is not going in so far as to push against the float. Seen that happen on occasion.

I have had that on my zeniths. I put some extra shims between the gauge and the carburetor so that it was not touching the float.
