Varying Piston Squirters
 
Hi,

Hope to have some guidance. I have a 3.0 1979 case. I am testing the right side squirters. All three have different flow rates. Is this an issue? I would think they all need to have the same flow rate? Unless #6 is staying open - I am not sure if I need to replace them?

I have been using Sea Foam, I will let them soak overnight.

Well, I make squirters, and probably no one knows more than I do about them. After extensively testing them for over a year, I am curious as to how YOU are testing them, and how you are getting your flow rates.

Let me know your methods and I'll comment.

Pressure was varied between 30-85 psl. Cylinder #6 squirter was flowing much more than the other two regardless of pressure.

The other two were slightly different. Should they all flow at the same rate?

Yes, they absolutely should all flow the same, but again, i have no idea how you are testing them. Are they loose, on the workbench? Are they in the case? If they are in the case you will almost never be able to properly test their flow rates.

Squirters get debris and varnish build up inside them. That's why I invented rebuildable pistons squirters and got a patent on them - because there is no way to ensure the insides are completely clean.

Also, it should take less than 15-20 pounds of fluid to open the squirters. Anyone that tells you they open at 50# and that they stay closed at idle has never properly tested a squirter.

After years of research I have the spring rates of the factory units and without sharing all of my proprietary data, suffice to say your average Porsche squirter has an internal spring that very closely matches the spring rate of your average ball point pen. So they should open with very little resistance.

What else would you like to know?

No, and I have sold hundreds upon hundreds of sets. I even put a set into Rod Pobestek's 2018 world time attack winning race car that has over 850HP.

They do not need to be punched. They are a light press fit and the Loctite does all the rest.......

I haven't sold William any squirters that I am aware of, but I am not sure if he's had the need or not.

Listen, this thread isn't intended to be a sales pitch for my squirter. If you want to use them, they will make your life easier.

Your other option is to replace them with factory squirters which are widely available as well.

Either way looks like squirters are in your future.

I am very interested. I dont like the idea of having to stake the OEM squirter. I was wanting to see if William had used them or any other proffessioanal engine builder for that matter.

Lots of pro engine builders all over the world have used them. I sell tons to England to Classic 911. Mike Bruns on here has bought a set.

Conservatively sold 400 sets never had an issue or concern. Or even a single return.
