Is this case reusable or is it trash?
 

Otherwise straight and ok 7R case that came with another project. I believe it has sat many years with water in the bottom. Only the sump area is corroded.

Is it usable or at least fixable - or should it go to the eternal Porsche fields?

100000000% trash.

At first glance 1000000% trash. However, its just the Sump cover there.

No point in trying to repair the thing? It's only the sump.......

Mag 2.7 cases are so plentiful I'd just look for another.

Too bad you are so far away i have a couple of 7r cases i would like to sell

Realistically not going to put 20K worth of parts in that case, sump cover or not.

That is caused by water sitting under the oil for a long time. Usually it occurs behind and under the oil pump.

Find your local mag welder and see what he thinks, fix may well be very cheap compared to a replacement case. If nobody noticed, common mag cases are well over $1000 now. Certain engine codes are way, way over that price. What is the engine type?

Of course if you don't need the case, throw it up on ebay, I'm sure somebody will take it for the right price.

Make a floor "LAMP STAND" out of it in upright position engine to allow lights go thru out piston holes with unique lamp shade on top of it. It is great for all others to admire it as an ART form since it may be valuable as it is probably is very RARE indeed for a lamp stand out there:) It is light weight eng. block.

Just an idea instead of throwing it away...maybe useful for your man garage and always can sell in the future as a rare gem lamp stand:) Cheers!
