Cylinder heads before and after

This is my second set of cylinder heads rebuild by
JB Racing in Tavares, Florida.
They have all the necessary tools and know how.
Price was $ 1400.- with new guides, seals, some new studs and all the labor.
Blasted and all.

Any new seats or valves required?

Cgarr on here does this too... roughly half that price...

May just be the resolution of the pictures, but was the head to cylinder mating surface machined or just bead blasted?

Cheers

He did mine for much cheaper than that even.....but I didn't need new intake guides, hence the lower price

I think you're right.

OP, I'd take the heads back and have the surface machined. If I'm not mistaken, that is a tapered cut.

Cylinderheads

Early cylinders had gaskets to form a seal.
The lip is only to center the cylinders on the heads.

hbrand,
Where new studs were installed are they heli-coiled?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571412484.JPG

Looks like a time-sert they work great for those areas.

Craig.
There’s a vicious rumor going around that you may be contemplating retirement. While I’d be happy for you, if you are could you delay it for a few months. I have a 3.0 I was going to send for machining and afterwards a 2.7. Fun fun!!
Thanks
Tony

As long as my health holds up which it should I will keep working a long time. I am 60, I kind of promised my daytime employer 8 years plus a lot of my equipment is here. Its actually kind of nice I keep their machines running and I get a nice shop, plus health coverage then I slide in the head work etc.

Whew. That’s a relief.
Thanks
Tony

Plus plus plus for Jim and the folks at JB Racing. They did a phenomenal job of machining for a 3.4 I am building.
Pricing is very fair and Jim is extremely knowledgeable and informative.
