3.4 Dyno Chart

Just wanted to share the lasted dyno chart after final tuning. The motor is a 3.4. The great torque curve is courtesy of cams from John at DRCamshafts. We have used these exact cams in a couple of other 3.4 builds and love the power/torque curves.

Jeff,
I got a similar shaped curve with John's 993SS cams in my 3.4 build. Only difference to your build is that I used the standard 3.2 intake manifold and consequently lower peaks of course.

Similarly I used Motec/twin plug/CoP/twin O2 sensors/twin knock sensors/AFM delete tube/1 5/8" BBE's/Dansk Motorsport muffler/Mahle 10.3:1 98mm. It's great to drive in the Twisties.

What is the spec of the cam you used?

sp_cs 10-24-2019 07:24 AM

Really impressive - I achieved similar figures on my 3.45. Similar setup except for using 1.65” OD headers

Since it is showing uncorrected, what temps were this engine ran in?

Henry Schmidt 10-24-2019 09:46 AM

Very nice....
I have a stump or two on the property. I was going to use the Tundra but ?????

Very nice shape to those power curves. Love the flat torque curve. Looks like there are some more rpms in that beast.

Very nice Peter, this motor has a DC44 108.

We have another 3.2SS on the dyno right now, then sending out latest 3.8 over there as well.

Jamie,

We ran out of injector... It could spin 7200 reliably I feel, but we limited it to 7000. With a larger injector we would seen north of 300 at the wheels.

cheers

Dyno room temps approx 78 degrees.

That is awesome. Great build!

Trackrash 10-25-2019 11:40 AM

That's a V-8 torque curve. Very nice. How does it drive?

Yes very flat, almost like a new gen small turbo car, except it keeps pulling. It drives a amazing, never really in the wrong gear. You can run it out to 7K or short shift it, always some torque there. It also helps that it is in a car weighing around 2300lbs :)

We have built this combo a few times and just love the torque.

We have a 3.2SS ITB motor on the dyno getting final tuning right now, then the 3.8 ITB one will be on the dyno hopefully late next week. Just putting some break in miles on it before final tuning.

Cheers

Great job on this build Jeff!

Iciclehead 10-27-2019 06:47 AM

Love it, such a good promise for my 3.4 build...almost the same spec except for PMO's, Eisenmann exchangers and DC35 cams....

If I can get that torque curve even with 10% less HP and torque I will be delighted.....

which injectors were you using?

Carbster09 10-28-2019 09:38 AM

Any reason to go with 98mm pistons over 100mm? I am having an engine built and thinking 3.5? Also struggling with ITB selection, as there are a number of choices. I want something easy to maintain over all else.

I have a 915 box (engine will be in a 71T) ... stock gear ratios seem fine; any sense in re-gearing it closer / shorter? With this torque it would seem not.

These were 30Lb Bosch, we should have used a 36lb.
