Fuel distributor Stopper!...

hi guys!.....i have the fuel distributor stopper and not the Allen key version where you would adjust your rich/lean mixture idle setting!

my engine is the 1977 2.7 ltre with this stopper!...what does this stopper actually do?

I do have a mixture screw with spring on the side of my air inlet carby looking at the back left of the air-box!

Did Porsche actually change the design of the mixture setting from the older Allen key next to the fuel distributor, to the screw/spring on the side of the air inlet carby?

The reason why i ask is i'm not sure if the stopper does anything to the idle weather the stopper is in the hole next to the fuel distributor or not?

if i turn the stopper nothing really happens to the idle....I heard some guys had lost their stopper in the past and just put a golf tee in the hold to stop any vacuum leaks coming into the engine or just left it the hole open!

There really not much info on this and it would be good to get some light from you guys on this!...cheers!

The stopper just pulls out and then you can insert the Allen 3 mm and adjust enrichment
Stopper just keeps the dust out of the hole.

Your enrichment is a 3 mm long Allen under the plug
Don’t get carried away with turning the adjustment or you may never run again.
I suggest clock wise is richment 1/8 turn and engine will start seeking idle. Back off to smooth idle then control rpms with the side screw.

cheers Bruce!...i have the feeling that the mixture would be sensitive!..and i agree with you on that!..my idle was low and took off the fuel distributor to check the center pin and it was gummed up so i cleaned it up and re lubricated it and now the idle is good now!...cheers! guys!..you guys are always a big help!

The mixture screw mostly affects the idle mixture.

Set if first so that the engine ha it highest idle rpm, the adjust down the idle in the other screw. You may need to iterate.

The real mixture is set by the WUR and isn't easily adjustable.
