Removing oil pump suction tube - what does it take?
This one is pressed/glued in. It does not have the retaining bolt. I need to change from the removable sump case style to the closed case style. This brings up the second question, is the suction tube available separately?

I was just looking this, about 30mins ago... I'd like to do it other way round, I have 3.2 pumps and they have integrated screen but I want to use old style sump plate. Suction tube in 3.2 oil pump is different shape and bolted on so it can be removed unlike on earlier pumps. I have modified (removed tube, cut and welded) in one 3.2 pump suction tube to be same shape as on 3.0 and earlier tube. But I have started to think that don't want to take risk on that one. (tube is steel, and on earlier ones its aluminium)
So to your question, as far as I know it is not possible to change to integrated screen version as tube is attached differently. (and I don't think any aftermarket one is available) |

Sell your pump and buy a 3.2 pump. The 3.2 pump has 2 screw holes to attach the suction tube, the 3.0 does not.
Going the other way isn't a problem. Unscrew the 3.2 suction tube and get a tube from an earlier pump and JB weld it in. The factory tube is just epoxied in.
