Case Studs for '75 911

I am rebuilding a '75 911. I had time-sert case savers installed. I am now trying to install the original case studs and the studs stop about 2mm shy of the 135MM installation spec(137mm vs 135mm). The threads on the studs and the time-serts are clean. I haven't tried to muscle them down any further for fear of damaging something.

Any advice on how hard it should be to install the studs and how much force is reasonable? What other things should I be considering?

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

when i installed my head studs into my aluminum block it took a fair bit of force however mine mostly had to do with the factory sealant that comes on them as you start turning it you better mean business because
it set up quick.

I assume they are not bottoming on something, so think the broach that cleans up the insert did not go all the way. You want them to go in tight, but not where you have to lean on the wrench. Bob

I use a dilivar stud that I have cross cut in the threads to allow the old trash to have a place to go then double nut the other end and run stud in and our a couple times. Blow out with air gun.
You should be using dilivar studs to stop the pulling problem, factory steel will continue to pull as before.

I thought that with inserts in the mag cases, it was supposed to be OK (or preferable?) to use steel studs?
