twin spark distributor for 1980SC

can a 993 distributor be used on a twin plugged 1980SC engine (930/07 code) or not? I find contradicting information on direction of rotation and no longer have my original distributor. Considering a reconfiguration of my ignition system

You would need to change the crank distributor drive for clockwise rotation of the new distributor Bruce

what options exist then, except splitting engine to reconfigure distributor worm drive. Are ALL SCs CCW ? see conflicting information on google, also pictures of same Bosch distributors but with worm gear configured both directions...

JB Racing builds a CCW distributor, magnetic trigger, adjustable curve or lock it down. call Jim Higgs 352 343 8900 Florida USA Mike Bruns

Try Tutthill in England They will convert your original SC dizzy for half the price of a JB one. I've had several done and they're excellent.

Correct. The 964/993 distributor rotates CW. The SC rotates CCW. You can not turn the 964/993 distributor backwards because there is a weighted advance phasing mechanism that rotates the rotor to keep the tip aligned with contacts as engine speed and timing advance requirements change. Simply changing the distributor timing gear does not work because the weights swing outward on their pivots when turning the wrong direction. JB Racing makes one. I had some parts to convert SC/3.2/930 distributors to twin plug but am currently sold out. You need an adapter ring to hold the twin plug cap and an adapter pin to put a twin plug rotor on the existing shaft. This only works well where you are using some external crank pickup for timing.

ok with the current EDIS setup the VR sensor runs one EDIS module and nr 2 module is slave. EDIS1 talks to MS2 ECU and get back fuel&spark. If one were to go CDI, would the signal givers in for instance a JB distributor be used to run the CDI boxes, or to run the MS2 who would then send 2 spark signals; 1 for each CDI What would be a good setup ? As I can see my MS2 has 1 only spark output not 2

36-1 toothed wheel directly into your MS2 ECU. Then single spark out trigger signal parallel to both ignition boxes of choice. Can also drive 3 channels of logic coils for a twin plug wasted spark using coil on plug (COP) units.

thanks Jamie. Did not consider splitting signal. I want to try CDI to see what the hype is about. And if I can resolve the lack of go in my engine..... can't find the reason so will replace parts until the problem has been resolved
