Lc 5900

An engine rebuild kit came with both Loctite 574 and LC5900. I use 574 for sealing the case...what is the LC 5900 used for?

So I called my parts supplier and he explained that the LC 5900 goes on the case perimeter as it is an RTV...as used by Porsche on 3.6 and later cases. The 574 goes on the bearing webs and Curil T goes on the outside of #8.
I don't want this to turn into another engine sealant thread...there are lots of those. But has common knowledge changed in the last couple years? I was of the impression we had agreed that 574 on the bearing webs wasn't a great idea...but was one of several products acceptable for case perimeter as well as using Curil T for the #8 outside of the O ring.

What has changed while I was sleeping?
