930 cylinder, out of roundness
Hi,
I am overhauling a 930 engine with 70000 miles on it due to an oil leakage between the cam housings and cyl heads. When inspecting the cylinders I found the cylinders to be in a very good shape, looked like new. When measuring the out of roundness I found them to be slightly outside of the max tolerance. I measured 0.05 mm out of roundness with the method described in the manual. Factory max tolerance is 0.04 mm. The engine has not consumed any excessive oil or oilsmoke before this overhaul so my question is if I really need to replace cylinders/pistons or if I just could replace the piston rings. wbr/Peter |
real life measurements are made with the cylinder torqued to spec. so you would have to speculate on what it would be then. 1/100th of a mm is not a whole lot.

Hi John
Thanks for your answer. Seems like you think I would be OK. wbr/Peter |
