oil sender nut size
I don't have anything thin and big enough to get a bite. I took the alternater out but still sol. I might get crow feet wrenches but don't want to throw down and still be sol.
thanks Alan 3.2 911 |
Did you mean to say you moved the A/C compressor? I believe the nut is 27 mm but don't attempt to remove the sender with it's mounting block in place on the engine. Sometimes the torque required to loosen the sender is high enough to damage the threads where the cam tower oil line fittings connect to the case. If these threads are damaged you will really be SOL. Remove the oil line fittings and mounting block. Place the mounting block and sender in a bench vise to loosen and reinstall the sender. See:

Thanks Jim.
That link was perfect. I took you advise and took the mounting block out and got it off on the bench (vise). It must have been 24 mm, cause I got it off with a 15/16. It was very sound advise, cause that sucker was really on there. Even if I had gotten a good bite (while it was installed), it would have been asking for real problems. Alan |
Thank John Walker; I believe he provided the first warning on this issue on this BBS. Cheers, Jim
