67 S worn barrels options

67 S 911
Std barrels and pistons. Barrels are too worn for a hone.
S heads and I think E or T cams.
Good used set in a bigger CC
New pistons and bore .5mm
Reco my barrels.
AA barrels pistons.??
What size will bolt on and work ( can I get more torque)
Its a weekender not a race car.
Thoughts
Thanks Lyndon

How far out are they? There are coatings you can put on your used pistons these days to increase their outer dimension by a nominal amount to account for a slightly larger bore due to honing.

Edit - just saw your other thread. 0.5mm is probably more than a coating will buy you. That's a lot just to true up your cylinders. Are they scored?

Other options include nikasil plating the cylinders back to standard side so you can reuse your pistions, or buying oversize pistons. 81mm is a common size off the shelf, or have a custom set made by companies like JE or CP which is more $$.

They have had moisture in them. 20. Thou would fix them.

Aren’t a set of 2.2 pistons and cylinders available? I believe it’s just a bolt on upgrade.

2.0 uses a different head gasket, I believe. Not quite bolt on, but it could be done. Possibly cheaply if you can find a good used set of P&Cs. One thing though is I think I remember that the 2L heads have a larger combustion chamber due to the steep inclination of the valves, so you'd lose compression ratio using 2.2L pistons compared to the standard application.

Have the cylinders bored / honed .5mm bigger and buy a set of Wossner pistons ( stock item ) , or maybe get a Nikasil coating to stock dimensions . Mahle sells new P's and C's , but they are actually for a 906 engine , so a bigger cylinder base shim is required and cutting the piston dome to lower the compression ratio .

Do to have a wossner part number

Nikasil-coated cylinders need compatible pistons. Early S pistons could be a match. Review this archived link:

An option for your planned operating conditions. If the pistons are to spec, resleeve the existing cylinders, then hone to arrive at spec. clearances.

Just remembered. I have a set of 2.2 base pistons and cylinders that are slightly out of spec. Let me know if these are of interest. Been in dry storage for +30 years.
