Engine weight?
 

Any idea how much a 3.0 CIS engine weighs with exhaust? That is, how many middle aged men will I need to help me carry it to the back of the house?

I think it's around 500 lbs. I've carried an SC engine with 2 people, but I would recommend 4 if you can get them.

It is a bit less than that, the fully crated one I sold in December was 440lbs without exhaust

3 reasonably non-whimpy guys should be able to lift it onto a stand...

actually 2 guys can do it ;) .. take engine off back of pickup truck and stick in engine stand !

** Warning ** .. you will have sore back and sholders for 2 days ..

I've said it before, but I think you guys who lift motors by hand are nuts. Use a tool, you're friggin Home Sapiens for krissakes. Back damage is forever.

I lifted a 2.7 will all of it's peripheals on a pallet out of a truck and on to the ground with 2 other guys... and one of them was actually pretty whimpy. Just remember to put your hands in a position where your fingers wont be under it when it hits the ground - that can make setting the thing down a pain in the.. well, fingers.

I could lift it alone. once at least. really, maybe or almost maybe. ANyway anyone who is a REAL man could lift 500 lbs of engine.

The engine project got put on hold. After two years on the waiting list I got a call from the bodyman. Interestingly enough, the shell of a coupe was easy for four guys to lift onto a trailer.

Does anyone know the hole size for each of the different squirters? I would like to identify what is installed in my case. :confused:

439lbs with everything. My dad (220lbs) and myself (175lbs) lifted it at one point. But that was after removing the 60lbs of exhaust and the cis.
