How to remove a 964 alternator fan?

I snapped one of three studs that hold the first pulley together, so I need to get the fan off to replace the broken stud. The factory manual says for removal of the fan to, simply, "pull off." Is the 964 fan different from the earlier styles? Does Wayne's tech article apply? Mine seems different. How do I just pull it off? Thanks.

you're not having any luck at all! but i've broken those damn studs too. brittle material.
in a perfect world, the fan will slid off the shaft. otherwise you can pull the alt/housing/fan as a unit, seperate the alt/fan from the housing, and tap out the shaft with a plastic hammer.
