what rod is this

Found this rod in my collection. 22mm bushing and a 53mm big end bore but wide at the big end, 23.75mm. Has rounded corners at the parting seams and the ribs on the beam have a polished finish. Thinking 3.0 RSR, but really don;t know. 911103105 OR on one side of the beam and 62/44 on the other side. Any one identify it. Thanks, Bobhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1598915365.jpg

rod I.D.

That is a rod for 70.4 stroke with 6 bolt crank.People would round the corners off in the scheme of balancing end to end.Actually not a good idea as it weakens the strength at the parting line.RSR rod was the same with the exception of an additional bearing tang. There were 2 tangs per bearing half. The part number ended in 148-01.The side edges were beveled to shed oil because the RSR journal was a little different on the outer edges. They also were .001 larger.Just a little looser for the constant high RPM.Ciao Fred

Fred, thanks for responding. This rod has 4 bearing cleats as apposed to the normal 2. The rounded corners appear to be factory, not done by some well meaning engine builder. Bob

rod I.D.

With the polished beam and 4 tangs could be RSR.I converted a lot of rods to 4 tang in the 70,s for 2.5 SCCA engines and polished the beams and reduced the diameter on the small end.Fred
