Valve Stem Height vs Lifter Lash for a 993 3.6

These numbers are for a 993 motor with lightly reground cams and 2 top end rebuilds. Intake valves are as supplied by factory. Exhaust valves have had face reground once, probably < .005". Seats have been recut twice, exhausts a bit more heavily than intakes. So, some mud in the numbers.

These can serve as a reference. Check your valve stem height (protrusion on the cam side of the head). Some aftermarket valves protrude less than the factory valves, even though they measure the same length, and this can cause valve lash that is considerably out of spec (too large). Better to find out before assembling all of the parts.
