Ring orientation
I think I found an error in Wayne’s book concerning ring orientation. The photo shows the two compression rings oriented 180 degrees from each other but across the wrist pin line. The text does say to a avoid aligning on wrist pin line. I guess my question is - how important is this since I have also read the rings rotate under usage? I think the spacing is most important, but if they rotate, why does it matter where they are initially located?

The rings, in just minutes of running, will move where they want to be Orientation is a thought but not real in running motor.

Thanks, Bruce. I was reading that the rings can even move at different rpm around the cylinder so I guess the position and spacing get all messed up over time. I wonder why all the focus on placement during builds?
