Mahle cis cylinders? Are these good for use?
These came off the 2.7 77 core motor i got. Have receipts mahle cis piston and cyl. Supposedly 25k miles on them from rebuild (motor was very clean...)
Inside is slightly magnetic All look same Was thinking of doing a mild build on my current motor and use these with some higher compression pistons, recondition the rods, crank, case machined, some head work, and pmo or Weber carbs. For a tbd chassis .... Look decent. Measure them out and if they pass... Run them.

Any time you have a used set cylinders you should measure for ovality and taper. You should also check the sealing surface for any damage, if those are in spec then with the Nikasil cylinders you have you can clean them up and reuse. Since you are looking at aftermarket pistons they should be ordered sized to with cylinders you plan to use.

The top where the ring travel ends feel with your finger, nikasil doesn't make a ridge, it's more of a wave. If it has this wave it for sure needs to be re-plated. I had mine re-plated and sized for my pistons.
Do a search, you can't just hone the cylinders with a regular hone, it has to be a certain type of abrasive (silicon carbide???) |
Don’t hone them with anything except a red scotchbrite pad and some soapy water.
