JimmyT, many thanks for bringing up this thread. For me, it goes straight to the heart of the matter as to what a “sports muffler” likely was in earlier days. No droning, not too loud, and quick response…….this is the best alternative yet that I have come across.
Cheers,
Johan

OK, back to the 2.2 in Post #1. Is the ugly gold colour of the Webers standard issue or have they been painted/plated in some previous life?

Well i purchased a brand new pair of IDA Webers about 25 years ago and they certainly were not gold more a mottled light brown :D

Update on the Webers-yes, tried paint remover in an inconspicuous spot and it does come off. I now have to find a removal method that safely gets into all the nooks and crannies. Bead blasting? and suggestions?

Update on Muffler- Got one now with dual pipes but I don't think that it has not been modded per Trackrash's drawing. I think that it's best that I first test it and check for droning and loudness.

Cheers.

Carb cleaner might dissolve the coating. If it does, once it's softened a large ultrasonic bath will likely free off all the bits in nooks and crannies.

Make sure you don't bathe them in anything caustic. I think Wayne had an issue doing that.
