Tensioner Rebuild
Hello, my mechanic tells me that the chain tensioners in my 1968 2.0 engine is not rebuildable because it has the thick flange. Is this true? I don't want to do Carrera tensioner upgrade as I wish to retain my 1968 engine as original as possible as well. I look forward to your responses. Thanks very much!

Tensioner
Take the later one, which you can easy rebuild. Installation with savers and it works for a long time.

If you do not want to go with the Carrera tensioner then the general recommendation is to use the later 930 tensioner 930 105 501 0R
![]() Along with the protective stops (or locks) that keep the tensioner from collapsing completely in the event of failure. ![]() It is also generally recommended to upgrade to the later Idler arms that have a bushing and a wider mount. john |

Thank you John but where do I buy a pair of this tensioner 930 105 501 0R and the applicable idler arms as I can't seem to locate any but used ones. Cheers.

Could someone please post the part number for the recommended 'later idler arm' suitable for the 930 tensioner 930 105 501 0R that I want to install. I have searched both Pelican and Stoddard to no avail. Thank you very much.

One more thing : Newer idler sprockets with bushings . I had one seize once , not good , engine stopped and was a project to repair .
