2.2 S damaged heads problem

Hello,
The workshop which was working on my 2.2 S heads during changing valve guides damaged the outer housing around the valve guides inside the heads. Two heads has been damaged. It is hard two find the exact 2.2 S heads for sale at the moment. Are they maybe interchangeable with other heads for different engine displacement? Maybe after some additional work?

2.2S engines are pretty desirable so matching the casting numbers has some value. That said: Any 2.2/2.4 MFI head can be ported to match a 2.2S heads.
You can also convert 2.2T heads to MFI and port it to "S" specs. With some welding you can also convert a 74, 2.7 CIS head. The castings are pretty much all the same. We do this conversion all the time.
We my even have a couple of 2.4S heads sitting around. I'll have to check.

Does that mean that I should rather go and hunt for any MFI head like late US T or E . I can not find any S heads stamped 911.104.308.0R at the moment.

2.2E, US 2.4T, 2.4E, 2.4S will all work .

How were the heads damaged? The valve guide boss split inside the port from aggressive installation of valve guides?

Yes, I have valve guide split inside the port. The piece of housing around the valve guide fell off. I assume that kind of damage eliminates these particular heads?

They can be repaired. But I highly recommend you find a shop that is competent in that repair and replacing guides.

Sent you a DM. Send all 6 heads to Bill at XCH and call it a day.

Sorry you had this issue. Shops not practiced in dealing with 911 heads can damage them. There are a number of good shops the can properly service/repair Porsche heads. The local machine shop isn't necessarily one of them unfortunately.
