Valve Seat Replacement
I have a set of 2.2S heads but one of them is pitted (i have seen worse) the valve seats look shot though
I cannot find much info on seat replacement. Do we think this head with new valve seats would be useable? Is replacing the 911 valve seat a simple task for a head shop? or is it difficult/expensive to the point of not being economically viable? these heads arent easy to find, so I guess I need to know if this is possible to repair and if it is viable to repair. Id rather not get a replacement head unless totally necessary so if it will work perfectly well after a seat replacement, assuming it doesnt cost the earth I would prefer to do this. But if the prognosis is terminal, then so be it. ![]() |

Valve seats are standard stuff for a good machinist. Don't just go to your local machinist though - find one that specializes in Porsche. Ollie's is an option.

Where's Henry Schmidt? He probably has one in stock if you'd rather replace it.

Integral seats in cast iron heads are no less important even though the seats are part of the head itself. An integral seat may have to be cut out and replaced with a new insert if the seat has receded, is badly worn or damaged.
