Neil, I appreciate your contributions here. Your post typically seem well thought out, insightful, and backed up by your hands-on/real world experience. Pelican would be worse off if you stopped posting.

I am an artist and sometimes I am invited to guest lecture by universities, museums, and professional organizations. What always shocks me are people who sign up and pay to hear me speak yet refuse to actually listen and hear my words because they have already decided they know everything about the topic and refuse to be open to the ideas and experiences of others.

You have to ignore those people whose minds you will never change and focus your attention on all those people you are reaching who do want to hear yours words and are positively impacted by your experiences and insights.

I may never have the courage to rebuild a 911 engine on my own but I am interested in how they work and how to make them perform better. I always come away from reading your post with some new nugget of information that gives me a greater appreciation for all that goes into these rebuilds and for your knowledge and contributions to this forum.

This is the response that most resonates with me, especially the last paragraph about the courage to rebuild a 911 engine. Not sure if I’ll ever rebuild one, but I’ve saved off many of Neil’s notes if I ever do. I particularly enjoy reading Neil’s posts along with those from Henry, Jeff Alton and William Knight. I feel like I learn something new each time. I read through Pelican almost daily while rarely posting. I believe most of the readers recognize your years of work and knowledge and hold you in high regard. Pelican is much better with your posts. Just have to ignore the folks that try to argue with you to try and raise their own level of credibility amongst the readers. The readers can decipher the difference from the real contributors versus the wannabe’s. Thanks, Neil, Henry, Jeff and William for your valuable contributions.

I could care less if anyone disagrees with me.

I will continue to post and help whomever wants to listen. The more posts by different experts the better, as there is always a better way. I too, are always open to learn something!!

I am really busy with my daily work grind to care less. Developing many new parts for the early 911 2V engines, current 9A1 engines, the older 996/997 GT2/Turbo, and now the McLaren V8TT. The work load keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Head stud kits, Titanium Exhaust stud kits, Camshafts, Titanium through bolt kits, Rocker arms, Valve train parts, New Valve springs, Throttle bodies, Plenums, Crankshafts, Connecting Rods, Pistons, Cyl liners, it doesn't stop.

And we have a 150 mJ CDI unit that has dual channels built in that can fire two coils at the same time.

Neil you better stick around here. You're one of the very best.

Neil, I for one appreciate every expert opinion I can get. You are easily in that category. I hope we can all read between the lines when someone w/o the education, experience and credentials start throwing opinions around because decades ago they watched someone change spark plugs on a motor. I thank you for your involvement in this forum and hope you continue to educate those of us who seriously need the feedback of experts like yourself so we don't do serious damage to our loved cars. Cheers, Michael

The Pelican tech forum has and continues to provide priceless information about the brand we love. I can't imagine being without it especially when faced with an unusual problem. There are a number of people who's opinion I trust without question and others less so. But unless someone is providing completely false information, I think it is in the interests of our great forum to just read and digest the info. A courteous non confrontational counterpoint, yes but personal attacks, no way. To do so takes away the quality of the discussion and turns it into a non productive Jerry Springer style slug fest. We are better than that! Just my two cents.

That's very flattering, but there are others with serious credentials that contribute as well.

Even our friend Winders has an opinion that should never be discounted.

Its always in the delivery.

Keep up the good work... you are one of the diplomatic ones..... there are others that need to work on their tact.

I hope that Neil and Henry continue to post and remain active. My engine isn't ready for a rebuild, but I want them here when it is!

My concern always was, every time I posted something or other did, it became a "pissing" contest. I'm not into this at all. I too are always open to another way, another opinion and maybe will learn something too.

I can be reached directly through our web site, info@performancedevelopments.com, or directly to my emails, neil@performancedevelopments.com and taylor.russell@performancedevelopments.com. I will answer within a day or quicker and happy to give an opinion.
