Best tricks to remove RMS? Screws or picking?
I have removed smaller ones with screws and then wedging the screws but this is a bit more delicate environment. The RMS that I want to remove has a aluring in the middle, black outer and orange inner ring.

Get a cheap seal puller/prybar and grind the hook to fit nice, I back it up with a flat bar so I don't mar anything I'm prying against.
The part you grind you want to round over and deburr smooth so it can't scratch anything, like the seal surface. |
Here is a pic from a 964 crank for an engine I rebuilt.
The previous tech had damaged the sealing surface when removing the seal.. this is what you want to avoid. Personally, I'm comfortable drilling a short hole, inserting a self tapping screw, and using a puller or even a claw hammer to prise them out. https://i.imgur.com/RqJgArS.jpg |
