So what do you think of this engine?
Okay, I'm in need of an engine for my 914-6. The original engine that was in that car is the 2.7L engine that was featured in the engine book. This engine is currently sitting in our showroom. Hence I need another one for my sixer.
Here's what I'm thinking: - Euro Carrera 3.0L case - 2.7 liter crank/rods - 3.0 cylinders replated with Nikasil - JE 3.0 high compression pistons or 100mm 3.2 pistons - Either 2.7 or some 3.2 933 Turbo airplane heads I have. - TEC-3 engien management system with twin-plug capability. This would be a short-stroke 3.2, high compression engine with the small flywheel end that would plug right into the 901. Any thoughts? -Wayne |
Wayne that is going to be a "hold on to your hat" fun set up!!
As a comparison, I have a 914/6 with a 3.2 10.5:1 JE's Web Cam 20/21 Weber 46's Tall manifolds This is coupled to a short geared 901 box (AFMSX), This uses a '70/71 pull flywheel (this uses a custom pull type shift fork set up). You will need to get a heavy duty clutch and pressure plate, (my stock clutch slipped under load on the 3rd/4th/5th shift) I use the centerforce 915 RSR clutch now. Youll have a blast in a 914 with the power the engine your building will make..What size rubber do you have on the car? |
I will have nines in the back and sevens or eights in the front. I have stock 5 1/2s on there right now. The engine is first for the car - suspension and flares is next. This car hasn't really run since I founded Pelican more than five years ago. Needless to say, I'm getting antsy...

That engine would probably make that car a kick to drive. Especially with a set of cams that would make power to about 7K

I would probably run 'S' cams in it...
