question for Wayne - from the new book

I have looked at the various engines types (set-ups) that you cover. I was wondering - if I build the 3.5 (based on a 3.2 case) what is the reliability of such an engine? does it
have the life that you mentioned a normal 911 engine having in your book? has anyone else out there built one of these and driven it on the street (not just the track)
(with proper servicing, etc.)

The engine detailed in the book was a street engine. It's a big bore engine, with compression not too high. The twin plugs were added because the piston diameters were greater than 100mm.

These cases were built to handle the 800+ HP of the 930. The 911 Turbos easily generate in excess of 300+ HP. I don't see any major reliability problems on these engines as long as they are setup properly.

On that same note, this engine *did not* run the Motronic Engine Management system. I doubt that this engine would run well with the stock 3.2 system. Well, if you twin-plug it, you can't run Motronic...

thanks Wayne. I have your book about 1/2 read now. I reviewed the section covering engine mgmt. systems and I understand that I'll need one. I do plan to twin plug the motor as you recommend also. The only open question remaining is what to do for fuel delivery?
