What are KS Alusil pistons / rings made of & plated with?
I'd love to clean my pistons in my ultrasonic cleaner but I have noticed that it strips the plating of some metals, such as the Yellow Cad plated fasteners used frequently by Porsche. I know there is some exotic metallurgy involved in the Alusil cyls and pistons and rings and I don't want to harm any of them. Any suggestions or info?
Thanks

The cast pistons used with KS Alusil cylinders are coated with iron and thats difficult to replace.
If I find the coating is damaged in any way, I either replace them with special JE's, or bore the cylinders OS and have them Nikasil plated to use one of several aftermarket pistons for the application at hand.
