2,2T crank bearing problem
Newbie help required,
I bought a 911T motor for a 914 project the motor was supposedly in good order lol. I split the engine case and found some problems. #6 bearing shells have rotated about 2 mm in the case causing the tangs to gouge into the case, the oil hole in the bearing shell feeding oil was blocked with bearing material. Looks like bearing material has also welded onto the case through the unused oil hole on the other bearing shell The thrust bearing by the flywheel is also toast although no damage to the case. What to do?

Was there any kind of inspection clause when you bought it? Can you ask the seller for some help, or box it up and send it back?
It will need some case work, along with crankshaft work, by the looks of the bearings. And you're going to need to clean everything out. It won't be cheap or quick to fix. |

Judging from the photos, looks like the case will have to be line-bored 2nd or 3rd over size. That bearing was pounded into the case bearing saddle.
