surge tank fuel pump need for ECU conversion
I'm considering an ECU conversion.
The design for modern ECU cars is an inside the fuel tank, fuel pump. Is this a design consideration for a 911 conversion??? Is the electrical noise from the Bosch -044 fuel pumps that bad???? How about the Bosch starter motors too???

You don’t have to use an in the tank fuel pump with a “modern” ECU. My race car uses a MoTec M130 ECU and a single external Bosch 044 fuel pump. My fuel cell has an internal surge tank too.
The Bosch 044 is not quiet but I never hear it unless my engine is shut off.

Not sure on the 911 but my 914 the fuel tanks have a surge ring, sort of a can inside the tank that serves as a built in surge tank. For a hot street car and AX it's more than adequate, even racing it would only may become an issue if the tank was below a 1/4 full.

Good advice from the 2 above. Never have seen the need for other than a quality pump mounted in factory location with modern ECU conversions.

I will add this:
I have a duel pump config with an SC-style unit and an 044. They both sound like fuel pumps. They are sitting in the frunk and my 911 is a race car without any sound insulation. I don't think one is really any louder than the other, but in my application it does not matter. Be careful with sourcing 044s- there are likely counterfeit units in the supply chain.

You don't need to change anything, your stock fuel pump will work just fine.
Yes, the 044 pump i loud!

You can cut down on the noise from any fuel pump by using rubber cushioned mounts. Solid mounting transmits more vibration and makes the pump noisier.
