I will strip it down Monday.
It has timing chains that are linked. Also the pistons/ rings are not ideal. ( Was done at the peak of covid and I had to compromise )
This is a good excuse to part the case plus I have some goodies in the house.

Where did you get your straight cut gears? Brand?

Thanks

Update
I'm sure now it's rod bearing that's in the filter.
They are worn. So I'm glad it's apart.
I will get the crank measured. Then I'm using ACL rod bearings. I can get STD. 001 over and 001 under in race spec. Locally made.
The right price as well. Speaking to the guys in Tassie they have made bearings ( one off which they don't supply ) for a mob in the USA.
So some Porsche parts in the USA are rebranded ACL.

ACL make great bearings.

BTW, your workspace is fantastic. Wish I had it.

In a street car you might want to reconsider straight cut ims gears are quite
noisy

I saw the edge of that gear looks like it was rubbing on something could that be where the aluminum flakes came from ?

Can't be noiser than the transaxle

The gear is good. One tooth has been squeezed by something against the steel gear. Old issue. Definitely it's flakes from the big ends.

Lyndon, are you still thinking it's flakes from the big ends? If the flakes are tough and metallic, do you unfortunately have the chips missing from the crank and bearing structure? The pictures you've shown seem to to show the rod bearings with some soft layers still intact, I think the worse area's show copper.
