930 oil pump stud torque

Can anyone tell me what the torque value is on the nuts circled in red in the picture. And would it be a bad idea to put Loctite red on both endes of the studs (where they thread into the cast iron housing and on the nut end)?

Thanks in advance

Standard torque values apply. First, identify the class of fastener. In your case, the upper left nut has the two dots close to each other, signifying class 10.9.

Then look up standard torque values for class 10.9 M6 bolt. (I think it's a 6mm bolt, going from memory here).

17 fig newton meters ;-) Or 12.5 ft lbs MAX.

Regarding loctite, it's lasted this long without thread locker. Blue if you're worried. Not red.

Thanks for the reply dannobee, I did take a closer look at the nuts, but they had no dots. Instead, the two most clearly legible had E S A A 8 marked on them, which does not correspond to any metric rating I can find. Additionally, that only gives me the rating for the nuts, but not the studs. More than likely the nuts and studs had the same rating, but without knownig for sure, I would rather go by factory rating, if there is such a thing.

I've never seen specs for the oil pump nut torque, factory or otherwise. You can assume at the very least it's class 8.8.

The conventions for nut ID has changed over the years (for both SAE and metric). The ESSA is likely the manufacturer. The 8 is likely the class (8.8). Not to be confused with "Grade 8" SAE

Class 8.8 6mm bolt standard torque is what, 12Nm?

I researched this and found 50 inch lbs , which seemed good . If you disassemble an original pump the nuts are not very tight . I use red Loctite as I once disassembled a 3.0 and a nut was loose . The hardware is not class 10.9 , it seems to be grade 8.8 .
