How long should I find metal flake in oil for new motor?

I drained some oil out of the tank and if I hold a light to it, I can see some very fine metal flake in it.

Motor was just built with all new bearings, etc.... Only has 500 miles on it, 400 of those on the racetrack... Recent issue with potentiall cracked ring... Oil pressure is good (100 psi under race conditions), except for under hard braking (see related thread about oil pressure dropping under hard braking).

Broken in using natural non-detergent oil. Motor on it's 3rd oil change. (One after 20 minute run-in, One after 100 miles, last one after 500 miles and valve-adjust).

Should I panic, or is this normal?!

Check everything else. Compression, leakdown. leakdown under 10 pecent? should be. Oil pressure ok at idle, when warm? Have oil analyzed. Catipillar can do this for you. Talk to them first on how to take sample.
