Mahle cylinder size mark?

I posted this in the main forum, but it slipped to page 2 fairly quickly, so I'll try again here.

This is on the side of a Mahle cylinder.

Does this mean it is size "0"

Thanks,

To clarify, all 6 cylinders have the same "0" mark in the same place. And all the pistons have a "1" mark on the crown, seen here:

I assume this means that the pistons are size "1" and the cylinders are size "0". Is this correct?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, I think that part of the mystery is that those are non standard markings.

Here is a pic of my Mahles which pretty much conforms to the standard marks since forever, these markings are on the cylinder knock sensor bosses instead of the more usual cylinder base just above the spiggot. These are RSRs which may explain the difference(or not I really don't know)

The number in the triangle is the cylinder height group and the large 0 flanked by the smaller # groups is the tolerence group for the cylinder diameter. As long as both sets belong to the same tolerance group you are ok.

Thanks Bill. The strange thing is, there is no triangle number on the cylinders, anywhere.

I am not sure this is a big deal or not, as they came as a set they should be all the same anyway. In will break out the good vernier calipers this evening, and double check the height.

Anyone know what a 15K set of 98mm Max Moritz pistons would be worth? According to Bruce Anderson's book, they started out as 9.3:1, but the previous owner had deeper valve pockets cut, so the compression is slightly lower. With wrist pins, but not rings or cylinders.

Thanks,

Tom
