sloppy rocker arms

How much side to side play is ok in the rocker arms. They can also be rocked side to side maybe 20 or 30 thousandths. At what point should they be rebushed?

Thanks

Dennis. I am not sure about what you mean by side to side? The rocker should be a easy slip fit on the rocker shaft. They do slide along the lenght of the shaft quite a bit.

Ok, that makes me fel a little better. They can move side to side a little bit. I also feel as though I can rock them, grab the end on the cam and wiggle it. This part is not sliding it is a little rocking side to side as if the bushings are worn. Well anyway, i think my noise was coming from the failed tensioner I also discovered. I did notice the valves were generally at about .006, so they need to be adjusted as well.

Thanks 5axis
