5.0 L 911 engine?

Ran across this on Redstone Performance Engineering's fb page. The proprietor is ex-Fabcar and legit. If this is as advertised, I'm impressed.

That would require something like a 110mm bore and an 88 mm stroke. I'd be interested in seeing how they make that work.

So many places are making billet blocks for other high end brands like the GTRs and Lambos... it was only a matter of time before someone made one for a Porsche. I'm definitely looking forward to progress on this! Not that I'll ever be able to afford one, but guessing $100K+ easy for one of those when all said and done... heck block alone will be like $40K.
Bad ass though.

All to their own.
It's fun to tune! And you can do this in so many ways :)
I have the personal (..!..) opinion that tune with "cubic" makes an engine more lazy and boring ... among other reasons why I love e.g. Porsche engines. and not V8 :)
If you need a 4 - 5L boxer 6 to scream- spin- snap- you are going "ridicules speed" and can therefore only really enjoy it on the track ...
If you want to have fun with it on the road, a smaller, more snappy engine will give you FAR more fun.. .. Just my 2c!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat5.gif :D

Interesting!

But why slides? That is old tech....butterflies or roller barrels are better!

That is an aftermarket case, for sure.

Dihydrogen monoxide cooling

So water cooled then. :-/

Sounds like they mean either air cooled or water cooled?

At any rate, I think a 5.0 L air cooled may not be feasible. Waiting to see. Water and alcohol injection?

BTW, I just watched a video of a 7.0L chevy revving to 11K rpm, so there are no RPM limits now it seems. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a29994025/custom-chevy-ls7-v-8-revs-to-11000-rpm/

The fb post is obviously a teaser - it mentions aircooled and water cooled (dihydrogen monoxide, lol). Will interesting to see what develops.

A non stock block might use a custom crank. Longer stroke, bigger cylinder spacing etc. What could the limit be then? :)
